What is Fused Glass?
Fused glass, also known as kiln-formed glass, is an art form that involves melting pieces of glass together at high temperatures to create beautiful and intricate designs. The process allows for endless creativity and results in vibrant, one-of-a-kind pieces that capture light and color in extraordinary ways.
The Craftsmanship
Our Process:
Fused glass starts with cutting, shaping and layering the glass. Each colour of glass is hand cut, cold worked to the desired shape, then set in place. The glass is then placed in my kiln and slowly heated to the softening or melting point, (1350°-1500°) depending on the desired outcome. Then the glass may be set onto a mold to give its final shape. It is then annealed and cooled slowly to ensure its strength and stability.
Behind the Art
Meet the Artist:
Hello! My name is Maureen Patricia. I have been creating fused glass since 2009. I love everything about glass! I love the way it plays with light. I love how versatile it is! I started out making only pendants and have slowly morphed into this amazing small business venture.
